Together we raised three amazing young men and together we welcomed our first daughter-in-law into the family. Together we weathered the difficult storms and life was beginning to get easier. We had dreams of travel, New York City and time in the sun. On January 28, 2006 those dreams and our life together were shaken with a diagnosis of cancer.

For the next three months we shared the sorry, tears and love of saying goodbye. Before Carol passed away she gave m a necklace with the following inscription "Love you always, C." She also kept a short journal of this new struggle and many times in it she wrote "Roland I love you." The necklace and the journal are priceless treasures to me. If you love someone please write it down for them so that they will have it forever. Carol "I'll love you always, R."
